We are proud to have served as the construction management firm for the successful completion of this remarkable affordable housing development project at 132 Northampton Road in Amherst, MA. This project, undertaken in collaboration with Valley Community Development (Valley CDC), this passive house building showcases our commitment to excellence and sustainable living solutions.
The development encompasses 28 studio units of affordable housing on a .88-acre lot. Our team orchestrated the demolition of an existing home and the construction of a new 12,564 square foot, 2 ½-story building featuring apartments across three levels. The thoughtful design includes a main at-grade lobby with an open stairwell, providing convenient access to the walk-out basement level and the first floor. Egress stairs at each end ensure direct exterior access from all floors. Additionally, a 4-stop elevator seamlessly connects the lobby and all floors, enhancing accessibility for residents.
In addition to the well-appointed studio units, the interior boasts common and support spaces designed to enhance community living. These spaces include a resident common room, a resident services coordinator office, a property manager office, and a laundry room. The thoughtful layout and amenities contribute to a comfortable and cohesive living experience for all residents.
