Way Finders Headquarters
Springfield, MA
Formerly located in the south end of Springfield, Massachusetts, Way Finders (formerly HAPHousing) was quickly growing and seeking to centralize its operations. Capitalizing on the successful renovation of Union Station and the relocation of Peter Pan Bus as an anchor tenant, Way Finders subsequently purchased the former home of the bus terminal for its new headquarters.
Western Builders led the remediation and demolition of the old bus terminal, and subsequent construction of the new 23,338 sq ft $9million headquarters. Financed through economic development bonds, tax-credits, and fundraising, the new building represents a significant reinvestment in this crucial downtown parcel. Designed specifically to fit the context of the Springfield downtown area, the new building features a classic brick-façade, striking the perfect balance of new design with traditional elements.
The completed headquarters, located across the street from the city’s vital transit hub, not only exceeds Way Finders’ organizational needs to bring 160 employees under one roof, but also provides its clients (who mostly use mass transit) greater accessibility to the services they need.
Western Builders was selected as contractor for this project while bringing one of Way Finders’ other developments – LIVE 155 Apartments – over the finish line. Western Builders is honored to work with Way Finders once again; for beyond a client relationship, we share common community-centered values including the redevelopment and revitalization of the Springfield area.
